How Can Precision Medicine, Genetic Testing, and Biomarkers Support Better Healthcare Decisions?

18 June 2026 | 9:00–10:00 CET

Join us for an ASCERTAIN webinar exploring how genetic testing and biomarker profiling are transforming healthcare and enabling more personalized treatment strategies, particularly in oncology.

This session brings together health economists, HTA experts, and a patient representative to examine these technologies from multiple angles. We will cover the economic evaluation of diagnostics, including next-generation genomic sequencing (NGS), and discuss how different efficiency metrics can inform decisions about their adoption. We will then turn to how biomarkers are used to evaluate treatments in settings where randomized trial evidence is limited or absent – a growing challenge for payers and decision-makers. Speakers will also reflect on what these developments mean for HTA processes and reimbursement decisions in cancer care, before closing with a patient perspective on the value of more testing: when is it wanted, and what does it actually deliver?

Drawing on research and experiences from the ASCERTAIN project, the session will highlight how transparent and adaptable modelling approaches can support equitable access to innovative health technologies.
